Our Profile

Family-owned, customer orientated.
Set in the heart of Somerset, Blackacre Farm is run by husband and wife team Tim and Judy Wood with their son, Dan. We’ve been in the business of producing eggs for over 30 years. In three decades, we’ve seen a massive increase in demand for free range produce as customer concerns over health issues and animal welfare intensify.

The Free Range Lifestyle

For centuries, farmyard hens have roamed freely in the open air unconstrained by small sheds or cages. At Blackacre Farm you will find our hens scratching, flapping and dustbathing in fields, bushes and hedges.

Our modern system of free range, combines traditional farming philosophy with the latest technology to ensure efficiency, quality control and rapid delivery of fresh produce.

Innovative mobile poultry houses

Unlike many labour saving industrial hen-houses which hold thousands of hens, these individual units provide comfortable housing for only 1300 laying hens. There is no overcrowding and so less stress. The hens can pop out at any time during the day and 'free range' through 'pop' holes on the sides of the houses.

Natural Diet

The hens are fed on a wholesome, natural, vegetarian diet, with no added antibiotics or hormones.

Healthy Hens

Regular inspection of both hygiene and animal welfare is carried out by independent inspectors.

Support for Independent Local Shops

Blackacre Farm Eggs are very customer orientated and therefore ensure that their eggs are readily available in a wide range of convenience stores and independent retail outlets throughout the West Country. Our policy is to support independent retailers by supplying them with quality eggs, efficiently delivered and sensibly priced.
